Full Days at the Annex
Drop off runs from 8:00 to 8:45, with free play in the classroom. Snack and a choice of free or structured activity follows until 10:00. From 1:00 to 3:00 the children play games and make things in the Bird Forest. Snack, games, and free play in the field close out the afternoon from 3:00 to 4:30. Exact times may shift a little depending on what the children are interested in.
What this looks like in practice
An after school day has a shape children can count on. It starts with a slow drop off, free play, then snack and a choice between free and structured activity. The middle of the day belongs to the Bird Forest, where games and making things take over. The afternoon ends in the field with snack and free play. Times can move a little depending on what holds the children's attention.
Children arrive after a school day with energy still in them. Outdoor time lets them spend it, in games and in making things, before the quieter close of the afternoon. That rhythm carries home. Rain gear or snow gear, and outdoor shoes that match the season, keep the day comfortable. Families pack those items so outdoor time can happen in any weather.
