Each room is built for what that age can do next.
Our care for infants is inspired by the work of Emmi Pikler, who modeled respectful and attentive caregiving. Days are unhurried. Teachers stay close, watch what each baby is already reaching for, and let care routines set the pace rather than a clock.
The toddler room keeps a teacher ratio of one to five in an intimate setting. Days here hold movement, sensory play, and plenty of supported social interactions. Teachers stay nearby as toddlers test a climb, trade a toy, or find the words for what they want.
Preschoolers spend more time outdoors, venturing on long walking field trips throughout the community. The walks are the curriculum as much as the classroom is. Children notice the weather, the streets, and the people they pass, and bring it all back with them.
preschool mixed age
Rogers is a preschool mixed-age classroom. Children here are introduced to more academic skills, with a strong emphasis on social and emotional skills. Younger and older children work side by side, and teachers let that mix do part of the teaching.
prekindergarten and kindergarten
Cartwright is a mixed-age group of prekindergarten and kindergarten children. The work is on academic skills, including math, literacy, and fine and gross motor, while also supporting more independence and self-reliance in preparation for elementary school.
The Pratt classroom is named after Caroline Pratt, who started City and Country School. It is one of three classrooms at the Annex on Mountain Road, alongside Rogers and Cartwright. Families who want to know how the room is set up, or how the day moves, can ask during a visit.

The Afterschool program is designed to meet the needs and interests of children in kindergarten through 4th grade. It is one of the programs housed at our Mountain Road location. Families can ask us for the details of the afternoon.
children ages 5-8 years old
Red Clover is a summer day camp for children ages 5-8 at our Mountain Road location. We spend time biking, hiking, swimming, playing games, and doing arts and crafts. Camp runs through the summer, and children come home tired in the good way.
Drop off: 8 – 8:30 AM.
